Exposing Apostasy

Is it OK to eat your baby's clone?

This one is not about parent child communication; this is a current event…

I was struck by the introductory comment on today’s short message called “Just Thinking” by Ravi Zacharias. He started out with this introductory comment:

Science can not tell you if it is right or wrong to eat your own baby’s clone, but it can tell you that’s what you are doing, and then can tell for yourself if you think it is right or wrong.

With an introduction like that, I had to listen. The fuller extent of the story goes on to explain that a chef cooked a human placenta and fed it to people. One person pointed out that this act is an act of cannibalism. Another pointed out that it is the clone of the baby that grew within it.

So, it is right or wrong to eat your own baby’s clone?

Post-modernism has a death-grip on this world. To understand post-modernism, we must go back to modernism. Francis Schaeffer was a prolific author on these two trends. Modernism happened when society as a whole cast off the idea that we can come to truth only by revelation. It believed that truth could be found in the pursuit of knowledge; searching high and low until discovered. Many people wrote what they believed were truths (all contradicting God, of course), but many others intellectually refuted the writings. After a while of this, people came to the thought that indeed, there is no truth; in such a world, people make up their own truths. This is where we are today. Everything is right if it is right for you. Of course, since sin is prevalent in us, what is perceived as right to us is what we desire to do. As our nature, we seek our pleasures and justify them when we get there.

The reality of the matter is that there are absolutes in this world and they extend far beyond a simple thought that only taboos are taboo. In reality, the definition of truth is that which has fidelity to the standard. In a world created by God, the standard is God. John 14:6 says “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” In John 3, Christ says that He is the light. It is REALITY. He explains it in full detail in John 3:19-21:

19"This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20"For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21"But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

And this is why people get so offended with the truth claim of Jesus Christ.

Science tells us that we need to decide what is right or wrong based on the facts, God, however, decrees what is right or wrong. You will be tired, worn, and weary as long as you resist the will of God. If you are doing things that bother you, listen to that voice. It is the convicting voice of the Holy Spirit. The scripture reads in 1 Corinthians chapter 6:

9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

But there is also hope to be cleansed, as the next verse reads:

11Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

In conclusion, first, it is wrong to eat your own baby’s clone. Listen to Ravi’s message, he is a very intellectual Christian who can answer a lot of questions; he is one of the regular apologists for the Christian faith that I listen to. The website is: www.rzim.org. Next, if you have not placed faith in Jesus Christ, repented of your sins, and begun the long journey of obedience to the word of God, I encourage you to do so. • This enters the ground of stem cells. Actually, scientifically, placental cells are the best source of stem cells. As opposed to embroynic stem cells, they are not cancerous (ESCs are), they do not pose any threat as therapy use is concerned, and they are derived from a live birth, so it keeps the anti-abortion people (who sometimes scare me dispite my agreeance to their point) happy. A cell line derived from a placenta is certainly different from eating the placenta. I am not opposed to the idea of using a part that is 'waste' by concensus for a target for therapy, however, eating a part of the human body is certainly frowned upon from a scriptural point of view.

  • If you are trying to get at red blood cells and transfusions, I caught you there. Perhaps you have read the hepatocyte studies from Pittsburgh where hepatocytes from livers rejected for transplant are able to sustain a failing liver for months at a time by implanting self-regenerating hepatocytes. This is not the issue at hand. I am not talking about medical treatment, I am talking about eating something that you could simply refuse to eat. I would submit that eating human placenta is primarily an act of non-conformitism trying to push the envelope as far as a person can take it, getting that line as far as existential pleasures desire to go just to rebel against the God that peope KNOW is there but are simply trying to reject.

In Romans we read that man has turned away from the evidence of God and for this, God has delivered us to our sins.

Contrast the life of Daniel, one of the greatest of the prophets to most people. Where as most people try to push the line of sin as far as they can go and attempt to remain loyal to God at the same time, Daniel remained as close to God as possible, just got close enough with the world to interact. We need to take an example from Daniel and keep as close to God as possible.

  • I'm aware that is the point he was making. Listening to the context of the message, I believe he was even quoting someone else at that point (It is hard to tell with him most of the time). The point I was making is that to the post-modern mind, anything goes based upon your own existential desires which are intrinsically sinful by nature.

There is no specific verse that says 'Thou shall not eat placentae', but it is derived from the understanding of a Biblical perspective. The perspective is that human life is more sacred than any other life, and to treat it with disrespect for whatever reason is in violation to the whole of the law of God, remembering that God is the standard buy which we measure the fidility of the truth.

There is a Biblical fallacy that if the Bible does not state something in specific and exact words, it is not Bibilcal. In America today, we are particularly susceptible due to an over emphasis on entertainment and an underemphasis on comprehension, particularly by reading (Neil Postman does a good job at deliniating this).

The truth of that matter is that we need to eat, sleep, live, and breath the Word of God. When we do, we will recognize that to do such an act as this chef did was simply out of conscious rebellion to the whole truth of the Word of God. Obedience is our great command, rebellion is our fleshly desire.

  • The bible says canabalism is wrong and maybe the reason he bamned pork was because it was een similiar to human flesh so placenta is a childs clone or flesh if not the the mothers so it Is obviusly wrong to eat. And I know christians eat pork today but that was just a thought and olnot the only means to my argument I think that any kin of cannibalistic practice like this is forbiden and the chef who prepared this done it for that very reason the alure of forbiden fruit or in this case placenta
